Each week we interview our DJ of the week! Check out their responses here!
Tell us about your show:
Our show 2 Saxy, usually features a theme each week that could be a subgenre of jazz or a vibe that we feel fits the night, from which we play and discuss songs that embody the theme.
Weird/Fun fact:
Ronan: I have three dogs of different breeds.
Daniel: I like to say I read, but I haven’t finished a book in over two years.
If you were a music genre what would you be and why?
Daniel: If I were a genre, I’d be classical music. Not the flashy virtuoso kind, but the slow, reflective kind that values patience and feeling.
Ronan: I would say jazz because a lot of times it is thought of as calm and relaxing but can be very active as well. The freedom of the music for the artist is another big aspect of the genre.
What’s your favorite part of being a part of wrcu?
Ronan: Having the space of WRCU and listening to a lot of jazz I might not always have put on myself to talk about on air.
Daniel: I knew a decent amount of jazz before 2Saxy, but since we started, I’ve learned so much more just from digging for music every week and hearing what the Station already has.
